Microsoft introduces the next generation remarkable all-in-one entertainment system -The Xbox One. It took eight years – Its predecessor, Xbox 360 was released on Nov. 22, 2005. According to Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business for Microsoft, “an all-in-one system to align games, TV and entertainment.”

There is an all new dashboard which enables multitasking in different programs. Users can stream videos, television and games simultaneously along with a gesture control technology to manipulate the Xbox home screen. Voice commands can be used to find favorite shows and channels.

The hardware includes an eight-core CPU, 8 gigs of RAM, a 500 gig HDD, a Blu-Ray Drive, 802.11 Wireless with Wi-Fi Direct, HDMI and USB 3.0. To learn more about Xbox One watch the video below.

Sony unveils the new Android – based smartphone named “Sony Xperia ZR” which will let you shoot full HD videos underwater. Apart from the HD camera, Sony Xperia ZR is way too better than the previous model “Sony Xperia Z” in many features.

The new Sony Xperia ZR offers a 4.6-inch screen, 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 13-megapixel camera and 2GB of RAM. A team of researchers from North Dakota State University has developed radio frequency identification RFID-equipped smart paper which could be the first step towards smart-money. The RFID-equipped smart paper can also be used in legal documents, tickets, package labels and banknotes.

Researchers introduced a new method called Laser Enabled Advanced Packaging in order to create ultra-thin silicon chips – the currently available chips are thick resulting in bulky and bumpy paper. Being thin, the new RFID-equipped smart papers are easy to print. The new RFID-equipped smart papers will be more resistant towards fraud and counterfeiting.

Laser Enabled Advanced Packaging uses a plasma etcher technology to thin down the chips. In order to insert the thin downed chips into the paper a laser beam pulse and antennas are used.

Project leader Val Marinov said, “About ten years ago the Bank of Japan and the European bank signaled their intention to develop such technology but they aren’t there yet. “I believe our scheme is the first to demonstrate a functional RFID tag embedded in paper.”

Bug-Eye camera is relatively a new type of cameras which works more like an insect’s compound eye. There is an array of 180 small lenses – arranged in a mounting shape. The arrangement results into a a very wide-angle view.

The Bug-Eye is a remarkably sophisticated class of imaging system inspired by arthropods. The images are generally of low-resolution because of less pixels but it offers h a wide-angle field of view, low aberrations, high acuity to motion and an infinite depth of field. Dr Jianliang Xiao, a team member said, “The compound design of the fly’s eye incorporates perhaps 28,000 small eyes, or ommatidia. That’s the direction we want to move in.”

Researchers at IBM has created world’s smallest stop-motion movie ever named “A Boy and His Atom”. The hero is none other than the carbon atoms. The 1 minute 34 seconds movie is a must watch movie.

Alexander Graham Bell - the inventor of the telephone, recorded his voice on a simple disc made from wax and paperboard in 1885 when he invented telephone. Anyone hardly knows what he said in that recording but now you can listen to it.

Researchers at Berkeley Labs and Library of Congress and Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History extracted the audio with the use of optical scanning technology. The audio quality is similar to old radios – it is rough but very strong.
