A research is carried out at Columbia University showing that human memory is hurt by Internet search. Internet has provided us with great search engines like Google. We look up for movies, songs, multimedia, researches, books, online helping tools, health caring suggestions etc on Internet everyday. However, such searches over Internet is harming effectively human brain. To be more accurate, “Internet has replaced our brain’s ability to remember information”. We remember only tools or websites instead of information itself. 

According to the study, we use our brains as computer uses external hard disks – back up data storage. High percentage of population has access to the Internet shows the high dependency on Internet. Even we people don’t bother to remember because we have an alternate in the form of Internet. Actually, we living with Google brains not with human brains. Even sometimes if we don’t find anything on Internet, we simply ignore its existence.

With Every coming day human lives easing. Thousand ways of communication, new emerging businesses, space explorations, fast ways of traveling, internet, computers and thousands more are surprisingly driving our world. Undoubtedly we have saved much of our time.

It is always excellent to look into future technology. There are numerous articles and videos over this but the real master-piece is “Productivity Future Vision (2011) “  a video released by Microsoft. It shows how future technology will help people to save their time, make better use of their time. It guides about focusing attention and strengthening relationships.

Year 2011 is ending with good and bad times but it was full of inventions, Success, progress and excellent in technology. Communication  medias improved with iPhones/iPads, space technology strengthened with Kepler-22b discovery and Mars Curiosity Mission while smartphones packed the world in one’s hand. There is an enormous change in the computing and internet world this year.

Let’s take a look back at what made this year great. iPhone by Apple, smartphones by Nokia and Samsung impressed the communication world. Play-station Vita, Skyrim, Modern Warefare 3 and Batman stood top in the gaming world. In social world, Google+ was the impressive addition although Twitter came up with upgraded Twitter V 4.0.  In space technology Mars curiosity Mission was a pleasant experiment. Creative Direction Museum’s head, Tim Molloy is giving his views over these inventions and their impact on our daily life. The video is created by “sciencemuseum” recently. Its more like a tribute to genius minds behind the inventions.

The team set up a different simulating technique to understand rainbow physics, they finally want to improve graphics in the animated 3D movies. With various simulations they came to know that interaction between spherical droplets and the light can’t be explained in some rainbows like  twinned rainbows. As they went on with the research they found as water drops fall, air pressure falls and shapes it like burger called “burgeroids.” They told that different colours appear because of different sized water droplets.

The advising professor, Henrik Wann Jensen said, “This goes beyond computer graphics. We now have an almost complete picture of how rainbows form.”

As world is becoming alarming populated so traffic crowd also increased on roads. Some solution is needed to overcome traffic problems on roads. Engineers designed Straddling Bus, its high, wide and cars can go through under it. Its attractive, speedy and functional too. 1200 passengers can go at the same time. Most important it has sun panels at the roof. So it is rated as the best invention for 2011.

2.          Glare Blocking LCD Sunglasses:-

Chris Mullin designed  unique electronic screen glasses to stop sunlight while we are driving. Day time driving with glittering sun light can cause headache. To avoid headache use these glare blocking LCD sunglasses. Liquid crystals are used to design these seen-through glasses, but it blocks sun light. A micro-controller along with a sensor is placed in it. Sensor detects the light strength and sends it to the controller which reacts according to the strength.

3.          The Medical Mirror:-

Ming Zher Poh has found a very cheap way to find the heart rate. Ming Zher Poh is an electrical and medical engineer. He designed a software supporting medical mirror. The patient needs to stand infront of the medical mirror. His heart rate will be displayed in the mirror. Its a very cheap way for such tests.

4.      The Print Brush:-

The device is designed by an engineer named Alex Breton. The print brush is able to get images or text from computer. These images or text can be transferred to any other art surface like wood, paper etc. Sensors keeps the the device in line while a laser is used to throw the light on the paper to design.  This invention took over 10 years to become a reality.

5.         The Armored Sleeve:-

The device is for security purpose and designed by David Brown. The Armored Sleeve is a arm protecting high tech gadget, it will allow law enforcement agencies to fight with crimes more efficiently and securely. Armored sleeve consists of high voltage stunner, a video camera and a laser pointer. It took over seven years to get the right design.

Nasa curiosity rocket ready to launch

The rover called curiosity will be used for Gale Crater examination. Its carries 10different scientific instruments including cameras, laser firing instruments. You can watch live launching of the Rover in HD as under.

Jetpack R200 will be able to push a man in the air up to 30 feet. Its speed would be 25 mph. 200 hp engine is used to pump water through a 10 m hose at 100 gallons per minute. It would produce up to 420 lbs.  The fuel capacity is 22 gallons. Cost will increase if you want to buy a jetpack other then red, black and white.

Other than JetLev, Martin Aviation from Newzealand also tested a jetpack. Height achieved by this jetpack was around 5000 feet. But be careful, jetpacks are not always 100%.

A frog loads energy into his tendons by shortening leg muscles. Then it recoils like a spring, and the frog leaps away. As most of the weight of frog lies in its legs, so without stretchy tendons frogs cannot leap that good.

Elastic structure is needed in order to get exceptional leaping. A test is carried out over northern leopard frogs common in the northeast United States. A pair was put on a metal sheet into a shine bone. Then using a local 3-D X-ray technology  leaps were recorded.  This recording showed the leaps 17 times slower than the normal. It  showed the change in the leg muscle’s length, joint movement before, during and after the jump.

Calf muscles shortens and after 100 milliseconds  loads energy into the tendon tendons. When frog jumps, tendons release energy which pushes the frog up away. it takes about 1/5th of a second.
