Flag Planted By Apollo on Moon is Still Standing

About 43 years ago, in 1960, man landed on Moon for the first time ever in human history. Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were the astronauts who stepped foot on the lunar surface and planted the American flag on Moon. Interestingly, this American flag is still standing after 43 years on the Moon. NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) took images of the flag and released them for public.

LROC principal investigator Mark Robinson writes, “From the LROC images it is now certain that the American flags are still standing and casting shadows at all of the sites, except Apollo 11. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin reported that the flag was blown over by the exhaust from the ascent engine during liftoff of Apollo 11, and it looks like he was correct!”
