On July 5th, World largest laser system was turned on for a while (almost for a fraction of a second) consequently it produced most powerful laser blast ever in the history. This record breaking test is carried out at National Ignition Facility (NIF), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, Calif. The authorities turned on 192 laser beams of the laser system into a target chamber which produced a record-setting 1.85-megajoule blast.

The blast generated more than 500 trillion watts of power in a fraction of second.192 laser beams were fired for few trillionths of a second of each other onto a 2-millimeter-diameter target. Senior research scientist, Dr. Richard Petrasso said, “For scientists across the nation and the world who, like ourselves, are actively pursuing fundamental science under extreme conditions … this is a remarkable and exciting achievement.”
