Android 2.2 (codenamed Froyo) for Nexus One is out. The update is being rolled out over the air (OTA) which can take a long time before it reaches your handset. Step 1: Download the official Android 2.2 (FRF85B) firmware from here.
Step 2: Rename the downloaded file to update.zip and not update.zip.zip.
Step 3: Move the file to your microSD card via USB.
Step 4: Power off your Nexus One.
Step 5: Turn on your Nexus One while holding down the Volume Down button.
Step 6: From the screen that pops up, scroll down to recovery and press the Power button.
Step 7: Wait for the triangle with an exclamation symbol to appear. Once the symbol shows up, press the Power and Volume Up button at the same time.
Step 8: Select the Apply sdcard:update.zip option from the menu that pops up.
Step 9: Wait for the Install from sdcard complete message to appear. Once that appears, select the reboot system now option and let the device reboot.
Voila , you just got Froyo on your very own Nexus One.
