If you are not an astronaut, don’t worry, you can still watch earth from space live. Pretty amazing! A startup called Urthecast (coming soon) will facilitate people to experience the Earth from space. With the help of HD cameras, Urthecast will stream real-time video of Earth 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With its first streaming Urthecast will become world’s first ever high definition, streaming video platform of planet Earth.
The filming HD cameras will be installed outside the International Space Station with the joint collaboration of Russian Space Agency. The cameras will capture the Earth continuously and then footage will be sent the the ground base- station from where it will be streamed for the people via www.urthecast.com. The cameras have the high efficiency and can capture 40 km wide, high resolution, color images.
With this streaming service you will be able to see continents, oceans, countries etc from space live. Even though you will not present at the International Space Station but still you can experience the Earth from space. Here is a video of San Francisco captured with a helicopter depicting how UrtheCast streaming will look like.
Co-founder Scott Larson says, ““Because we know where the space station is, you’ll be able to enter your address and find out when it will be on you next or see past images from your area, then you can walk outside and organize an event for when it will be over you again.”
