For all the video game enthusiasts its a dream to play games like Crysis, Call of Duty and other graphic intensive games on iPhone and on iPad. The company Rearden wants to revolutionize the video game world and to make this dream come true. The company is currently testing its service OnLive promises to ship the games they are most needed resources to play even on limited machines (like the iphone or iPad). The idea is simple: the calculations are done on the servers OnLive and only the result would be transmitted to the device. Dice In Las Vegas, OnLive has made a brief demo of Crysis, a 1st person shooter the most resource hungry of his time, turning so clearly … very fluid on the iPhone. Steve Perlman, CEO promises OnLive also a version iPad is in the pipes. Thanks to its mobile platform, Apple won a drawing power in play that made him sorely lacking before.Everything seems perfect, but it raises the issue of latency (the time between when the player performs an action and when it is received by the servers ofOnLive), But developers have announced a latency average of one millisecond. Regarding the quality of the image, it would be proportional to the user login. It is possible to play from 1.5 Mega but a reception from 5 Mega should be required to display a resolution of 1280 × 720 at 60 frames per second.
For now, OnLive is expected for next winter, and many publishers have already confirmed the presence of their catalogs on the service. The question is how the public react to this new way of consuming video game.
