Have you got interesting apps in you iPhone and it turned to a little sluggish, does it takes seconds longer to take up  call or it is more slow than you like it to be ? 1) As I said like you PC there are more apps running in your iPhone at back-end than it appears to be and in computer you are required to have a look at you PC Task Manager to stop the unwanted running apps. In you iPhone E-Mail App is one of such apps. Typically there are not many apps to run in background when you press the home button. For those of you who have one or multiple e-mails accounts enabled at there iPhone, always turn off them when not using. Also Download less email and avoid those that you already read. This will allow more efficient utilization of battery by not using vibration and notification ring tone besides will save some processing power. Do do this get you iPhone home screen and GoTo Settings->Mail,Contacts, Calenders->Show 25 Recent Messages.

2) You might have enough apps in you iPhone but have you turned their push notification off. Most of the users never bother about this aspect of apps and simply install and use apps they like. But every time some update happens to their installed app they get notified and is the most common resaon to halting of your iPhone while you are using some other app. Push notifications are a kind of apps themselves which are running and checking for  available updates all the times and makes your iPhone  sluggish when you get some update. If you have more and more apps then all this gets multiplied. You can get rid of this problem by turning push notifications off from Settings->Notifications.

3) Safari web browser on iPhone works in a similar way as it on MAC OS X or any other related OS. You will agree that your iPhone is phone first and web-browser second so to speed up performance keep number of opened windows to minimum and time to time clear up your browser cache from Settings->Safari->clear cache. You can also bet more out of you battery also if you turn off fractures like java script and plugins when you don’t need them.

4) For those of you who don’t have 3G network at their present location never forget to turn off your iPhone 3G network as it sucks maximum battery power. Some of fellows who are more involved in travelling and have iPhone never think about this important feature and get annoyed by their iPhone. You can get it done form Settings icon available in your home screen.

Besides these you can dramatically increase your iPhone speed by simple things like

  • At least leave about 500Mb free space in your iPhone, you should delete music, videos and other files that you will never use.
  • Clear you SMS list by deleting old messages.
  • Install only those apps that you use and delete apps that you don’t use, especially free apps as you can get them online fro free whenever you want.
  • Avoid listening to music when you are doing other stuff you can get iPod for that
  • Never forget to turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi after you are finished with these.
  • Instead of checking for new emails constantly, change it to hourly, or check of new emails manually. You can do this by Turning Off  ”Fetch New Data” from settings.

Some of you might have heard about upcoming new generation 4G iPhone and will be willing to rush for it when it gets released by Apple. You are encouraged to suggest your ticks and trips with other SciTechie users through comments.
